I, Miranda Borg Blomquist (b. 1999), am a jewelry artist based in Stockholm and Gotland. 2022 I graduated from Fashion Design BA at Swedish School of Textile, with my degree work being a collection of human sized sculptures, ment to be worn as jewelry.

Leading up to my degree work I began working in salt clay, using it to create conceptual jewelry, aiming to challenged conventional notions of scale and form. The material allowed me to shape freely, exploring silhouettes without limitation, and I appreciated its raw, unpolished finish.

In 2023, I expanded my material palette and included silver and tin, wanting to explore making more wearable jewelry.  Starting out without traditional jewelry-making skills or equipment at the outset, I developed an unconventional approach that allowed me to work creatively within the constraints of my tools.

My techniques are deeply connected to the natural properties of materials, letting their raw qualities guide the process and welcoming the unexpected. The process allows for freedom of form and is a celebration of raw, unrefined materials. Through this ongoing exploration, I aim to push the boundaries of jewelry-making, and redefine conventional ideas of form, scale, and texture.

Growing up on Gotland and Fårö, these places remains a constant source of inspiration and I still spend as much time there as possible. In a way, my work was born with me, shaped by the landscape and atmosphere that surrounded me as I grew. The mystic, raw nature of Fårö, with its fossils, reminds me of the presence of the past, and I believe it has deeply influenced not only the forms I create but also my feelings and thoughts about the presence of the eternal.
